Tom’s Compositions in full

These are Tom's ragtime compositions and exclude his arrangements/adaptations of video game themes.  Many of these themes can be found on Ron O'Dell's site.

The table below lists every tune that we know Tom either wrote on his own or on which he was a collaborator. It also includes a few impromptu tunes for which recordings could be found, but of course no sheet music. We managed to find sheet music for most of the compositions, but sadly not for 6 titles.

There are live renditions, mainly by Tom, of 240 tunes and ones created by scanning from the sheet music of a further 43 tunes. I doubt that anyone has ever heard most of these 43 tunes, and they are delightful Brierisms. Many of the renditions are from festivals or were made for reference purposes and are not polished performances, but they are Tom.

Several of the pieces that lack BR numbers (the sequence of composition as recorded by Tom and Neil Blaze) are part of an incomplete 12-piece suite, one in each of the 12 minor keys, that Tom and Neil Blaze were still working on at the time of Tom’s accident. In the table the performer of scanned sheet music is cited as MIDI. Sadly in a few cases we have been unable to get copies of either the sheet music or a rendition. We will gladly substitute live renditions for the MIDI renditions if interested pianists will contact us.  We can supply the sheet music for any of the MIDI renditions.

The list of Tom’s compositions, kept by Neil Blaze, was divided into BR and WANG.

BR stood for Brier Rag but was also known to Tom and Neil as Bar-Raiser as Tom sought to make each composition better than his previous efforts.

WANG stood for Without A Number, Gentlemen, and was for tunes that were not official compositions but Tom did compose them and took the time to notate them and so we regard them as compositions.

The table below is therefore divided into 3 parts – BR, WANG and Improvisations – tunes for which we have renditions but which Tom would probably not have deemed compositions.
